Foreign students arrive in the Netherlands
31 Aug 2007
In September – the start of the academic year in the Netherlands – special meetings are being organized at many Dutch universities to welcome foreign students.
The numbers of students coming to the Netherlands has increased since last year. At the Technical University of Delft, for example, 30% more foreign students will be arriving this year than last. The Rector of the University of Groningen and the mayor of the city received foreign students in the impressive medieval Martinikerk, where they were told that, in 2010, the university hopes to welcome some 3,500 students from abroad. The Rector Maginificus (vice-chancellor) of Tilburg University has called for easier admission criteria for foreign students.
