Amsterdam university develops mood recognition software

Wouldn’t it be fantastic if computers analysed your mood so that this most intimate of co-workers responded appropriately?

Researchers at the University of Amsterdam’s Intelligent Systems Laboratory (ISLA) have made an important step in this direction.

They have developed a piece of software that accurately identifies your mood on the basis of your facial expressions. The only thing you need is Windows and a webcam. The software will be available for download from the Visual Recognition website from 1 January 2008. Eventually this should lead to a computer that has a feel for your mood.
