Neso e-Newsletter

14 May 2008

On 5th May Nuffic published the second Neso e-Newsletter of this year. This newsletter provides news on the education markets in countries where the Netherlands Education Support Offices (Nesos) are situated.

The Neso e-Newsletter contains information from our overseas offices, as well as information about new developments in the Neso countries. This may be in the form of factual announcements or an analysis of trends, threats and new opportunities. Attention is also paid to events or developments that may have a direct impact on overseas promotional activities concerned with Dutch higher education.

A major portion of the information that is included in the newsletter has been provided by the Nesos. They not only present results and facts but also place them in the context of the developments in the regions where the offices are located. The Neso e-Newsletter is also a source for information on all the Neso activities, international fairs and relevant publications. The content of the Neso e-Newsletter is intended for everyone who is or might be interested in internationalization and promotion of Dutch higher education abroad.

In this edition Neso China focuses on The Go West Campaign, Neso Indonesia elaborates on the European Higher Education Fair in Jakarta, 31 October – 2 November 2008, and in Mexico the Neso office devotes special attention to Engineering. Neso Russia refers to a publication on Stopping the Brain Drain, Neso Taipei presents an extensive summary of the European Higher Education Fair of 2007 and the office in Vietnam is looking for an Alumni Relations Officer while Nuffic announces that the directors of the to-be-opened Neso offices in Thailand, South Korea and Brazil have been recruited. These, and many more interesting articles you can find in the latest edition.

What is Neso?

A Neso is a representative office of Nuffic whose mission is to improve and strengthen the position of the Netherlands and Dutch higher education and foster institutional cooperation in the countries where a Neso has been (or will be) set up in particular. The main objective of a Neso is generic promotion of Dutch higher education.

A Neso serves a wide range of clients and partners: international students and academics, Dutch students and academics, international and Dutch institutions of higher education umbrella organisations in the Netherlands, government bodies in specific target areas, alumni, and other stakeholders.

Neso offices have been established in China (Beijing), Indonesia (Jakarta and Surabaya), Taipei, Vietnam (Ho Chi Min City) and Mexico (Mexico City). There are plans to open Neso offices in the coming years in Russia (Moscow), Thailand (Bangkok), Brazil, India and South Korea.
