European Commission awards Nuffic the CoRe II project

15 Aug 2008

The European Commission has awarded Nuffic the Competences in Education and Recognition II (CoRe II) project under the Lifelong Learning – Erasmus programme.

Nuffic will execute CoRe II in collaboration with the British, French, Estonian and Czech National Academic Recognition Information Centres (NARICs), the Tuning network and the Accreditation Organization of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO).

Points for improvement

This project is a continuation of the CoRe project that Nuffic carried out previously and which analysed competency profiles from an accreditation standpoint. The results showed that the kind of information reported differed quite a bit, both in terms of content and presentation. Furthermore it appeared that necessary action needs to be taken on the manner in which the study results of higher education programmes are formulated, so as to improve transparency and mutual comparability.

Goal

CoRe II works on the main conclusions as set out in the report. The goal is to develop a standard format, to write a manual with guidance on the formulation of study results for three fields of study (history, physics and nursing), and to contribute to the development of a single competency language by means of a glossary of terms.

The project will start in October and will last two years.
