Orientation and Interaction Programme Nepal

02 Sep 2008

On 24 August 2008 an “Orientation and Interaction Programme” took place for new bursaries, organized by the Netherlands Alumni Association of Nepal.

For the year 2008/2009 a total of 84 Nepalese students have been awarded Netherlands Fellowship Programme (NFP) fellowships to pursue higher education and training at Dutch institutions.

On 24 August 2008 anOrientation and Interaction Programme” took place for these new bursaries, organized by the Netherlands Alumni Association of Nepal (NAAN), in association with the Royal Dutch Consulate. The aim was to provide general information about the Netherlands and its academic institutions to the participants, who are about to leave to study at various higher education institutions in the Netherlands.

Alumni from respective institutions, executive members of NAAN, and the fellowship officer from the Royal Dutch Consulate (Ms. Patricia Chettri) shared their experiences.

The main items on the agenda were:

  • advance information about the institutions that the new students will be attending
  • information about the social and cultural customs of the Netherlands
  • what to take with you: in the past new students were confused about what to bring to the Netherlands. As a result, some ended up packing unnecessary belongings, which made their journey uncomfortable and difficult.
  • basic do's and don'ts while living in the Netherlands
  • an opportunity for new students and alumni to interact and get to know each other

Lots of other relevant queries from the new bursaries were also discussed. All  participants highly appreciated this initiative of NAAN. At the end Mr Naresh Pradhan, NAAN Chairman, closed the programme with a vote of thanks to all participants and invited them to join him for coffee.
