Libertas Support Fund
28 Aug 2008
The aim of the Libertas Support Fund is to assist politically engaged students who for political reasons have been prevented from studying in their countries of origin to continue their studies in the Netherlands.
The Dutch government nominates countries whose nationals are eligible for a scholarship from the Fund. In the 2008-2009 academic year, the programme will be open to students from Belarus and Zimbabwe only. The Fund provides financial help to students who want to follow a bachelor’s or master’s programme in the Netherlands. Study can include research and/or practical training.
Target group
Suitable candidates for the Libertas Support Fund are politically/socially engaged students who are personally active in efforts to improve political or social conditions in their country of origin and because of this have encountered problems in continuing their studies.
Studying at a Dutch higher education institution
In principle Nuffic arranges for a place at a Dutch higher education institution. However, candidates can indicate on the application form their programme of choice or that they have already been in touch with a Dutch institution in connection with a specific study programme.
Important information concerning scholarship application
Please note that it is no longer possible to apply for a Libertas Support Fund scholarship for a study programme in the Netherlands that will start in September 2008. If you apply for a scholarship the starting date of the study programme (of your choice) in the Netherlands will be no earlier than February 2009.
